Updates on me:

1.) Went to Disneyland last week. My favorite place on earth. It was such an awesome experience to go with people who have never been there before. And The Haunted Mansion is still the best ride ever created.

2.) School is almost in session again. Yay for subbing.

3.) I’ve found out that the school I want to go to to get my certificate in addiction counseling offers online classes. This will make my life so much easier. YAY! I’m so excited.

4.) Anyone selling cheap New Kids on the Block tickets for the San Jose show in October?! If you are, please contact me ASAP! My life’s dream is to see them (I wasn’t able to when I was, what, 3?) and you would be making my inner child very, very happy.

This is so beyond funny and true. I was going to copy and paste it in here, but the length would probably terrify you and the language used probably wouldn’t look so good to a potential employer. Anyway - it’s a Craigs List ad. The guy hates everybody.

So here’s the link: CLICK HERE

People Who Can’t Sit Through Movies

So I come from a movie loving family. You can pretty much watch a new release at my father’s house on a nightly basis. Us Ferns typically show up to the movie theater 20-30 minutes early to find the perfect seats, catch the previews before the previews and the previews. Then we laugh at the people who come during the previews and have to wait at the bottom of the aisle until their eyes adjust.

Anyway - I married someone who isn’t really that big of a movie fan. The movie has to be really good for him to sit all the way through without getting up to do some other thing.

Let me just say that I DO NOT UNDERSTAND people like that! How can you not enjoy sitting and watching an awesome movie? And it sucks to watch a movie with people like that, because then I think that they are only watching it because I’m watching the movie, and then I feel like I’m wasting their time because I’m sitting and watching the movie, and then I just feel awkward because the whole time I’m trying to watch the movie I think, “They probably resent me for making them sit there and watch the movie. What do they really want to be doing? I wish they’d just tell me they don’t want to watch the movie!.”

I guess my frame of mind thinks everyone should love movies the way I do. And they don’t. Oh well. :-D

I’m Not The Only One

As I was checking my email, I noticed this article on the MSN page. It’s about a girl who was obsessed with teen idols. I believe she’s around my age since all of her teen idols were all of MY teen idols. Especially her favorite teen idol - Mike Vitar (Benny from The Sandlot). He was mine, too. My mom even put a signed baseball with his name on it in my X-Mas stocking and convinced me that Santa got it from him to give me.

Anyway - reading her story was like reading my life story. She wrote countless letters to her teen idols and never heard a response back. Welcome to my life - except I did get a response from JTT (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) once. Although my dreams and wishes were crushed when I realized my best friend got the same exact letter in her mailbox a few weeks later.

My first teen idol crush was on Thomas Wilson Brown, better known as Little Russ Thompson from Honey I Shrunk the Kids. It then moved from him to Danny from New Kids on the Block, and then that led to Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Devon Sawa, Jonathan Brandis, Hanson, Five, Kevin Zegers, etc., etc.

I had posters plastered all over my walls - so much that in later years when I took them all down, my dad cussed his way through trying to patch up all the push-pin holes. That wasn’t a good day, lol.

Anyway - the article was awesome. It’s probably too long for someone who hasn’t gone through this to read, but if you’re a teenybopper at heart, read it.

Perfect Specimen.

I think the 1990 Glen Phillips (lead singer of Toad the Wet Sprocket)  is the most perfect specimen to walk on earth. Couldn’t find a picture of what he looked like then, so I have to post their music video. Just check out the long hair and the gangly limbs. Oh yeah.

Oh, and, does he NOT remind you of Matt from House Arrest? Aw. Matt. Love.

So according to my blog stats I get around 200 hits a day. That’s not a lot of hits compared to “popular blogs” out there, but nobody ever leaves comments! So leave comments! :-D

Intrigue

*The pictures below were taken from various myspace accounts. If you are the owner of these pictures and would like me to take them down, notify me and I will take them down ASAP!

So according to dictionary.com, the definition of “intrigue” is to arouse the curiosity or interest of by unusual, new, or otherwise fascinating or compelling qualities; appeal strongly to; captivate.

Being the biggest teeny bopper around, I guess my brain has been hardwired to spot “flavors of the month” since birth. However, I suppose my taste in celebrity has been somewhat different from other teenyboppers. I don’t like “crushing” on celebrities that are very big…once guys like Orlando Bloom, Kevin Zegers, and Hugh Jackman became bonafide heartthrobs, the little spark in my heart fizzled (I’d like to say I crushed on them first. Ahem.)

Anyway - I’ve recently come across two gentlemen–brothers–who have stimulated my interest. Intriguing is probably the perfect word to describe them and how they look.

Let’s start with Zane Carney. I wouldn’t have ever heard of the guy unless I didn’t frequent How They Look Now (Yesterday’s Faces of Today). He was a cast member on Dave’s World, and now he’s a musician. I mean, you can just imagine how someone with the name of Zane, who is ALSO a musician, would look, right? Totally hot. So here’s his picture:

Well once I saw him I had to stalk him on the internet. Not really, but you get what I mean. I checked out his Web site and his myspace, which eventually lead to me finding out that he had an equally if not hotter older brother. His name is Reeve (another hot name) and he’s also a musician:

The boys are genetically very lucky, and they absolutely intrigue me. They aren’t your Abercrombie models (yuck), nor are they as well known as some mainstream bands. Which makes them even more interesting. I know, I know…there I go again putting two normal people onto pedestals…but again…I’m hardwired. On the verge of sounding really out there, I think the reason why I find them so wonderfully “different” is because, to me, they don’t look like they come from this era/generation. That sounds so strange out loud, but for some reason they have this rustic, antiquish (is that even a word?) look to their faces. I can just picture going to a grandmother’s house and having her point to a picture of someone who looks like them and saying, “That was my late husband when he was just a young lad. How handsome he was.” Haha. You know I’m right.

And here they are together:

You can check out their band (Carney) site here.
